Tell us about your role at SMCT.

My role is Operations Leader - Burials, working across our multi sites (Cheltenham Memorial Park, Brighton General Cemetery, St Kilda Cemetery and Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery). The department I work within covers various operational areas including burials, mausoleums, memorial installations and Honouring Life Services.

What was your first job?

My first job was stacking shelves in the freezer section of Safeway when I was 15 years old.

What is the most important thing you've learnt throughout your career?

The most important thing I have learnt is that respect goes a long way and to get the best results, you should treat others how you want to be treated. Also, it helps to smile!

What's your number one work-related goal this year?

To teach and coach new employees that start at SMCT, building up a healthy and respectful team.

What do you wish everyone knew about SMCT?

We really are one big family! No matter what department you work in or what level of leadership you are in, everyone is always willing to roll their sleeves up and help each other out. The support we all give one another is truly amazing and that’s why I love working here.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

They may be surprised to know that I tell terrible dad jokes, a lot. While we all do remain professional and often need to be serious within our roles at SMCT, I love to laugh and make people laugh even though I may sometimes not be that funny.
