Burial Options

If you or a loved one have chosen to be buried, there are a number of different options to choose from. The information below may help to ensure that the final resting place for you or your family member is the right one.

Is burial the best option?

If you’re not sure, we encourage you to read our page on deciding between burial and cremation as a starting point. This can help you think through some of the options.

The important thing to remember is that burial can refer to a number of different situations but will always involve placing the deceased within a coffin, casket or shroud.

Burial at our locations takes place either below ground level within an earth grave, or above ground within a mausoleum.

What burial options are available?

We have a number of different options for burial. You can find out more about our burial options below including lawn graves, monumental graves, ornamental lawn graves and headstones. If you have a preference for exploring a natural burial, we can help you at the beautiful Bunurong Memorial Park.

Before choosing an option, we encourage you to think about the personal preferences of the person being buried. For instance:

  • Did they like being near the water?
  • Did they have a love of gardens?
  • Was their faith important to them?
  • How important is being surrounded by family?
  • Were they in the military or the police?

Each of our locations offers something different. We encourage you to talk to one of our consultants to work out where will be the best place for you or your loved one.

Special places for burial

There are many special places to choose from across our locations.

These include the beautifully decorated Song He Yuan at Springvale Botanical Cemetery which was designed under Feng Shui principles. They also include Rawda Ar-Rahman and Rawda As-Salam (Gardens of Mercy and Peace) in Bunurong Memorial Park which were designed to meet the needs of our Islamic community, and the soon to be completed All Souls Mausoleum which will feature a courtyard garden inspired by the Garden of Gethsemane. This is not an exhaustive list by any means, and you can find out more about other special areas here.
